What a Weekend! WOO!

This weekend? Awesome. Refreshing. And mostly lazy.

On Friday, we were given a half day. Now, I’m a little bit compulsive when it comes to work, and so I worked way longer than a half day. But then I forced myself away from the machine when I realized that my day was going to be gone in another instant.

So I went to our New! And Improved! healthclub near the apartment where they have all kinds of stuff I will probably never use like racquetball courts and a Pilates studio, but it feels oh so fabulous knowing this stuff exists and I have access to it, even if I rarely take advantage.

I worked my fool head (and butt) off on the Stairmaster and then with weights. Afterwards, I put on my bikini, grabbed my trusty notebook and pen, and wandered on out to the pool, where I laid in a lounge chair and wrote down some aspirational goals, like go to bed at 9 p.m. during the week and get up at 6 a.m. so I can enjoy the healthclub to the max in the mornings… goals that have to do with writing every day, and remembering who I am and what my value is … goals I’ve written down many, many times before but are not necessarily achievable on a consistent basis and so I need to remind myself on days like last Friday.

When I was in LA the week before last, I met up with the most-awesome-est MAScriv and we made a deal. We're going to send each other 10 pages per week so that we have someone to be accountable to so that we can make progress towards finishing this here book (and that thar book). And for that, I’m excited and grateful.

Jumping over this past Saturday, a day marked by Death via BarBQ, yesterday Julie and Dave took me and Steve out on their speedboat along with Brian and Dorine, and we had one of those viscerally fun days where you feel the sun’s intensity and you leap into the water to cool off, you prune up from bobbing around in the lake for an hour straight, treading and talking and you drink beers (well, I drank wine, among other things) and you talk some more and you laugh and you forget for a few moments that you require a job and an income to enjoy moments such as these.

What a weekend.
