Let's Get Physical

So I ran yesterday, at the Cherry Blossom. I only did the 5k. It was humbling. It's annoying when your joints don't cooperate, and I felt like I was 90 years old with the way my left hip and knee were nagging me. I came home and had a hot bath, since running in the rain in 40-ish temperatures didn't agree with my tendency towards cold-bloodedness.

But mostly it was inspiring. Because now I know what I need to do, and it doesn't involve a whole lot of running. I was up at 6 this morning, and I headed to the gym and worked up a sweat. Afterwards in the shower, I was annoyed that someone had the nerve to afix the shower gel so high up on the wall. Then I laughed at myself; my arms were tired from lifting weights. I feel good now for having made the effort.

My wedding dress arrives in about a month, and I'd like to lose 5 pounds before my fitting. My real goal isn't so much losing weight, it's really toning up, gaining more hard muscle to replace a little bit of jiggle. Oh yeah, we went wedding ring shopping yesterday. We're still trying to navigate the metals and deciding what would ding less and look nice.

Three o'clock. I think it's lunchtime.

We were at the cherry blossoms on Saturday and saw the signs about the run. Good for you for getting out there! And the blossoms are so pretty.

Good luck with your toning up before the dress arrives! I am so excited for my dress but I have another 2-3 months to wait. Yours is arriving so soon!

Jess,
You're so lucky you got out there Saturday. The weather was gorgeous. Sunday? Not so much.
On the dress thing ... in a mere 4 months and 1 week, I'll be married. WOW.

I ran the 10 mile yesterday -- what yucky weather! Hopefully it will be better next year.

You're a trooper Stephanie -- good for you! I wimped out of the 10 miler (obviously) so I have huge respect for anyone able to tackle that distance.

Oh, yay! Congratulations! How did you feel during the race? and are you getting a short mini wedding dress now that you have super-hot runner's legs? Ha, just joking! But four weeks... how exciting....(!!!)

Congrats on the run! I don't see anything wrong with only doing the 5K. Don't kill yourself, woman! Just remember that there are people out there that have a hard time walking from their cars to the door so running a 5K is awesome! I hope you got the music I sent you. That new Madonna song is pretty sweet to run to also.
