Home Sweet Home
Here’s the bed update: we shopped on Saturday and ordered one, and it will be delivered this coming Saturday. Which means I haven’t slept on it yet, but I’m very excited to.
Since I’m out of town until tonight, I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the new bed yet anyway, so no big whoop.
And speaking of being out of town, I called my honey last night and he informed me … well, first he told me who got voted off Biggest Loser, even though he hates that show, so I think that qualifies him for sainthood.
And then he told me that the weather is supposed to kick up some major poop right around the time I’m scheduled to fly today, and I might want to change my flight. Which I don’t think I can do, on account of my all-day meetings, and then the stress of trying to figure out times and feeling like he was pressuring me (I think he was trying to be helpful, but in the moment, I may have misinterpreted) and wondering if it would be wildly inappropriate to duck out early even with a pending weather disaster made me a little bit stressed out, and I think I might have snapped at him. Ugh. I woke up today still feeling bad about that.
I got out of bed today in the 5 o’clock hour and tried to work out this whole flight-weather thing, and none of my colleagues were up yet, so I couldn’t warn them or solicit opinions, and so I’ve dressed and packed and been down to the lobby for coffee and back. I figured that calling someone before 8 a.m. is poor form, so I’ve been staring at the clock and it’s finally eight and now I can at least ask somebody what they think of this whole thing so that I can either change my flight, or just go ahead and be accepting of my fate of a day and maybe even part of a night of delays and disasters.
And honestly, all things considered, I’m out here for a reason, and I think I should just go enjoy breakfast now to strengthen my white-knuckle grip and then settle in for the ride.
