2008: It's Gonna Be a Great Year
The engagement party on Saturday night was fabulous, and I do believe the meeting of the parents went well.
Steve and I were thoroughly worn out after three nights away from our own bed, though; and it didn’t help that we were partying until the wee hours with my relatives those nights. By New Year’s Eve, we were feeling like old people. We went to Todd and Heather’s and had a lot of fun, but the night was low-key as I was battling a headache (I lost) and Steve was fighting a cold (he lost.)
Today it’s back to work. I’m almost relieved, seeing as all those late nights and all that celebrating does bad things to one’s body. I made sure we went to bed early last night, since I knew it would be a big adjustment to get myself out of bed this morning at a decent hour. Apparently, we are now older than my grandmother.
I thought I had already thoroughly planned what I would accomplish in 2008, but today brings everything into a granular focus. My broad, sweeping goals of fitness, neatness and punctuality require more specifics.
Whether you like it or not, I bring you: My 2008 Resolutions. (If you hate reading this kind of crap, please come back tomorrow. But to be honest, tomorrow could possibly hold more of this kind of crap.)
Resolution One: Strength train 3 days per week. (And I mean macho man lifting, no girlie, pink 2-pounders.) Goal: 22% body fat.
Resolution Two: Cardio 6 days per week, alternating running with elliptical. Goal: 10 miles in one hour and 50 minutes.
Resolution Three: Be punctual. And I don’t mean ‘flying by the seat of my pants’ punctual. We’re talking ‘having everything in order’ punctual. Which leads me to …
Resolution Four: Simplify, Organize and Declutter. This means neatening up the apartment each night, packing my bag the night before, and knowing each night what I’ll eat the next day so that I will leave the house cool, calm and collected instead of wondering, “What did I forget this time?” Goal: Something approximating sanity.
Resolution Five: Create a 3-tiered ‘File–Action–Toss’ system so that our kitchen table stops resembling a ticker tape parade. Get a pretty new filing cabinet so that Steve and I can start fresh with our files. Goal: Apparently I want my transition into a Boring Person to be complete.
Tonight I go to the gym for the first time (besides the day I signed up.) I’ll have a fitness consultation with a trainer, then hopefully I’ll have time for a quick work out.
Then I’ll go home to my honey and have some chili for dinner. Life is sweet.

These resolutions are great, and so well-organized that I think you're well on your way to meeting number 4, in a roundabout way. Happy New Year!
Your resolutions are so much more specific than mine, which sound mostly like "Get, like, healthy and shit."
:)
I'm all for the de-cluttering, though. You'd be amazed!
I need someone from HGTV up in my hizzle, like, ASAP. But, I know I'll never be a neat person, so I'm just going to work with it.
You, however, have more drive than I do, so good luck!
Don't you love New Years? Perfect time for taking stock and makin' plans. My resolutions are 1. Plan a cool trip somewhere - work be damned and 2. be more organized. Number two is way too general, me thinks...
i SO need to get more organized too! i'm adding that to my list :)
