Alive and Kicking …

… just really, really busy.

I started my new job last week, which I adore. The people are great, the work is exciting, but I’m just plain booked from early morning until night, and it’s made blogging difficult, to say the least. I’m beginning to come up for air (sort of) so I’m hoping I’ll be able to blog at least intermittently on my off hours and on the weekends.

Enough about that. I wanted to take a moment this evening to let you know what’s going on in my world.

Steve and I are getting married this summer at a gorgeous hotel in Wilmington, DE, and we’re very excited. I wish I actually had time to do some planning!

I never suspected it would be, but I must admit that wedding dress shopping is the most fun thing ever. Even if you have never once considered marriage and have no intentions in that realm, you should immediately grab your best friend and run out to a bridal boutique and try on dresses just for the hell of it, because it’s a hoot. Some of those dresses are the craziest contraptions ever.

As for the book, I have a first draft complete. I need to take some time on the second revision to beef it up a little bit, and then I will send it around to a few friends so they can have a read and give me a critique. Then I will do the fine-tooth-comb revision. I wish I could keep making as fast progress on the book, but I guess I’d best slow it all down for now … it will get done soon. I’m hoping by March, but we’ll see. In the words of the Wicked Witch of the West, "All in good time, my pretties. All in good time."

I'm glad you're back... I was starting to wonder! And congrats on finishing the first draft! What an accomplishment.

Also, I would love more details on the wedding! I haven't been shopping for my own dress yet, so I am still vicariously living through everyone else.

Isn't wedding dress shopping a blast? I don't know why I put it off for so long. It has been the most enjoyable experience of the wedding planning process thus far.

I can remember shopping for my dress with Melissa. We first went to the sale rack and tried on every ugly bridesmaid dress known to man. We had sooo much fun! We even had the sales people laughing. If you want, come out to LA LA Land and we'll do some damage together!
